Artwork Description:
"The Flame of Asshurbanipal" is a horror story by Robert E. Howard describes the fantastic discovery of a luxurious palace in the Arabian desert and a skeleton sitting on its throne, holding a gem of unspeakable beauty. In this self-portrait, the artist holds the human cranium with the lower jaw positioned on the skull as a crown. The gemstone is absent here, and only Death with the crown is important. No luxury has ever stopped the arrival of Death; only Medical Science is capable of thwarting it.
