This portrait of a woman before mirrors has a special story. First of all, it is a portrait of the artist's lover Daria in her Minsk apartment. This painting was the artwork that convinced the artist
to relocate to the USA, this work was won in a small competition hosted by Parsons School of Design Professor Robert Coane. The competition was titled Figuratively Art Speaking and it was juried by
notable gallerist Daneyal Mahmood among others. Daneyal Mahmood Gallery - Kashya Hildebrand at the time represented two most serious international Russian and Belarusian artists - Andrei Molodkin and Roman Zaslonov.
Upon winning this small competition artist he has convinced himself that he can succeed in America as a painter.
