Madonna of Neman is a painting based on a photograph of an artist's lover taken during their travel with friends to the River Neman in Belarus. The artist beautifully captured a young woman in the evening, in shadowy light. The position of her head and shading are reminiscent of the work of the great Leonardo da Vinci, which is why the artist titled this nocturnal scene a Madonna of Neman, a reference to the Renaissance legend.
