Artwork Description:
This still life depicts two large bouquets of anemones on a dark background, carefully collaged by the artist from his base material. He purchased the flowers from Manhattan’s Flowers Shop and photographed them many times in his studio. Odilon Redon was an artist whose still life featured the same flowers - anemones - which inspired the artist to engage with these charismatic flowers.
