Artwork Description:
The Watchers in The Darkness was created after the exhibition Time and Measures took place. It features figures of a man and some women staring at black nothingness around them. The composition was slightly influenced by the experience of another artist, who produced scenes in a similar style with a similar subject- it was Tim Eitel, a Leipzig, Germany painter 10 years older than Chiao, whose exhibition Center of Gravity at Pace Gallery Nicholaas Chiao visited in autumn of 2007.
